WOLVERHAMPTON 50 LIONS 40

Leicester made Wolverhampton work hard for their win last night at Monmore Green just falling short of making it three wins in seven days.

The Wolves were the only club left with an intact home record but the Paul Chapman and Sons Lions pressed them throughout, finally losing by 50 points to 40.

The racing was close and so too was the scoring as the Lions never allowed the home team to build up a substantial lead as seven of the first eleven heats were drawn. It was only in the final four heats when the Wolves managed to break free but a 4-2 from Nicolai Klindt and Josh Auty in Heat 14 raised Leicester’s chances of taking a consolation bonus match point. Nevertheless whilst the outcome of the final heat did not go their way the Lions can take heart from a performance that belied their league position.

“The team showed real commitment throughout the meeting and we gave Wolverhampton a few problems to deal with. It was a vast improvement on our last visit to Monmore Green and if we can show the same resolve in our remaining seven away fixtures there is every possibility of at least a win somewhere” said Norrie Allan.
